The purpose of this new program is to help keep the Oceanside Community safe. Many residents and business owners have now installed cameras on their properties. When incidents take place nearby, we are not always aware that their cameras may have collected information that could be vital in deciphering any infractions, making the community safer. The police, in effect, are also not necessarily aware of who might or might not have this potentially vital information. We are not acting as the police department, but rather a community watch that will pass along vital information to the police, helping them be more effective in their investigations.
By registering your home and/or business address with Oceansidewatch.com, we can then monitor our community with those registered users. We will only contact registered participants if a crime or mischief occurs in your area, and we think your footage might help. The registered owner of the camera will be asked if they can share their footage of any activity that occurred during the times in question.
Your personal information will be kept strictly confidential and will not be sold, reused, rented, loaned or otherwise disclosed.
